During the 2008 International Convention, delegates approved a resolution establishing the Roofers & Waterproofers Research and Education Joint Trust Fund.  The Trust Fund is an investment in our local union apprenticeship programs, coordinators, and instructors. It aims to empower and train the country's most highly qualified roofers and waterproofers by providing education, resources, and training packages to all local union apprenticeship programs nationwide.

The Trust Fund is a joint labor and management trust fund created and administered for research and education pertaining to employment, education, and other issues related to the roofing and waterproofing industry.

The Trust Fund has developed several training packages and programs for affiliated apprenticeship training centers. The programs include student manuals, instructor guides, electronic presentations, interactive applications, online learning, and testing databases. We continually endeavor to create, develop, and provide the highest quality educational resources and instructor training for all our members.

One of our first initiatives was to adopt and develop Foreman Training Programs Parts 1 & 2. These programs continue to benefit our members and contractors to this day.

Through continued efforts aimed at college-level instructor training, the Trust has partnered with Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, MI, to launch the National Instructor Training Program

The National Instructor Training Program provides instructor training annually. It equips instructors with the capabilities, information, and resources to offer and provides our members with the highest level of training at every local apprenticeship program nationwide.
